This past weekend I gave a lecture for an MBA course at Anglia Ruskin University, and we took the opportunity to do a little bit of sightseeing in Kent afterwards. We spent a few hours exploring, among other things, the charming town of Rye. Along one of the many little lane-ways we found this sign. It says, “On this site Sept 5, 1782 nothing happened”.
I thought this was interesting because it is definetly not true. Things happen everywhere all the time. Everyone has a story, they just sometimes don’t necessarily realise it. In sustainability we spend a lot of time being told the stories of those companies that want their stories to be told, but who don’t necessarily have the strongest stories to tell. On the other hand there are many companies who do have a very interesting and relevant story to tell but are too busy working to tell it.
It is also just a fun little sign I wanted to share with you all today.
